Why is this lipstick a winner?

• The warm colour: Kind of obsessed with the tone of Paradiso. It reminds me of a sugary-sweet cocktail that you would drink watching the sun go down in St Tropez or Cannes.
• Sheer texture: I love the return of sheer lipsticks. They look more natural than matte lipsticks and they seem weightless and fresh. I like sheer lipsticks for wearing during the day or if you are going for the ‘no-makeup’ look.
• It feels soft: It doesn’t make your lips feel chalky or flaky. This makes it a win for me.

I like Tom Ford Lip Colour in Paradiso because I think it is well-suited for summer holidays at the beach or going out in top cities such as Miami and St Tropez. How much should I spend on buying red lipstick?

One of my favourite red lipsticks that I think would suit my tribe is Russian Red by MAC. This has been around for years and the company does refresh it from time to time. It’s the closest I have seen from MAC to a true red that can transcend different skintones without looking garish. This red lipstick is $18.50 if you purchased on MAC’s website here or you can look for similar red lipstick colours by opting to buy on this site.

Another delectable choice that you can consider is Giorgio Armani Beauty Ecstasy Lipstick in the shade called Four Hundred. The price is steeper at $38 however it is definitely one of the most richly-manufactured lipsticks due to how the pigment was pressed during the manufacturing process (trust me, I come from a cosmetics background). I love how vibrant this particular shade of red is from Giorgio Armani is and I can see it working well on all skintones. I think this Armani Red is more for nightime dates and events as opposed to being a daytime red lipstick like Russian Red. If you are looking for an affordable alternative, try some from this brand. 

Tom Ford Lip Lacquer in Universal Appeal

Tom Ford is one of those brands whose prices are clear from the jump. We all know the prices are sky-high with the clouds. I previously purchased a lipstick from Tom Ford. While I loved the texture of the lipstick, I understand why many people become upset when they hear about prices that are high for cosmetics. The Tom Ford Lip Lacquer is another one that I had and I was thinking today about whether its’ price matches with the quality.

What you need to know about Tom Ford Lip Lacquer

• It’s really shiny and glossy: This is not a lip gloss for wallflowers. And yes Tom, this is a lip gloss even with an extravagant label like lacquer. I find it goes on better if you have primed your lips before hand.
• There isn’t that much product: Tom Ford as a brand like to invest in packaging and how the product looks on the outside. In terms of value for money, this is not it because there is not a lot of product in the tube itself.
• It works better on top of lipstick: I actually prefer the Tom Ford Lip Lacquer as an amplifier to a lipstick that corresponds with the colour that you have chosen as opposed to wearing it on its own. Why? It actually is a bit thin and like a wafer if you just wear it on its’ own.

I think the Tom Ford lipstick is better value for money than the Lip Lacquer. However, the Lip Lacquer’s colour selection is intense and vibrant. Make a decision based on what is more important to you – value for money vs quality.

NYX Liquid Suede launched to a lot of hype and press a while ago. I was on the fence about it because I have not had a lot of luck with NYX products in the past. I think NYX is good if you are on a budget and if you need makeup that gets the job done, but it isn’t necessarily the brand for people who love super detailed makeup looks.
